The Australian Government has announced HomeBuilder payment scheme, which supports Australian businesses impacted by the Coronavirus. Based on ATO last update on 18th June 2020, HomeBuilder is being implemented through a National Partnership Agreement. As of 2 July 2020, all States and Territories have signed up to the HomeBuilder National Partnership Agreement. HomeBuilder provides eligible owner-occupiers (including first home buyers) with a grant of $25,000 to build a new home or substantially renovate an existing home. HomeBuilder will assist the residential construction market by encouraging the commencement of new home builds and renovations this year. The Australian Government has announced an extension to the JobKeeper payment scheme, which supports Australian businesses impacted by the Coronavirus. The Government is extending the JobKeeper payment by six months from 28 September 2020 to March 2021. Support will be available to businesses and not-for-profits that have been significantly impacted by the Coronavirus. The payment rate will be reduced and employees with fewer hours (less than 20 working hours per week) will be paid less. In addition, from 3 August 2020 the relevant date of employment will move from 1 March to 1 July 2020, increasing employee eligibility for the existing scheme and the extension.
